Hearts Knit Together was born out of my struggle to balance my desire to create with my busy life as a working mother of four. I am challenging myself to do something creative WITH my children each week and to share that adventure with you on Mondays. I invite you to share your creativity with your children so that we might inspire each other with ideas to help "knit our hearts together."
If you want to join me, write a blog post about something creative you did with kids and share your link in the comments. No rules really, only that your link is current and something about creating with children. They don't even have to be your own kids. Please remember to link back to The Gauge Wars so that others who may want to join can find it. Pretty simple. Your post can be from any day of the week. It doesn't have to be Monday. Thank you for participating!
I am sorry
I kind of fell of the face of the planet last week. We had a garage sale on Saturday and I spent most of the week packing and sorting our junk, I mean treasures, for that. I am shocked that so many people actually bought our stuff. I am not much of a shopper, and much of what we sold originally came from a thrift store or was a hand-me-down of some sort. So I was thrilled to make more than twice the amount of money I was hoping for. Yeah! We are putting the money towards our student loan debt. Yesterday I paid our tithing on our earnings, in quarters. It was pretty funny to see my church leader's face when I handed him the heavy envelope.
When I wasn't packing and sorting for the sale, I was emotionally involved in a sad situation with a family from church. I won't go into a lot of details but it has been weighing heavily on my mind. It is never easy when youth leaders have to call child protective services on a family you work with. Everyone is hurting and it is difficult to know how to proceed, to help both sides of the situation. And then I am leaving the state next week so really there is little I can do at this point. If you are the praying type, say a prayer for this family. They really need help.
Speaking of moving, we rented a truck this weekend! We will be leaving Kansas next Thursday with a 26 foot truck. Notice I didn't say all our belongings. I am not sure they will actually fit. Keeping my fingers crossed about that. I am packing up the stash today. Gotta make sure that goes in first! :)
Anyway, I am cheating a little with this Hearts Knit Together post. It wasn't crafted this week. In sorting our stuff, we found the cow puppet I never documented here. Maeve and her cow. Not sure about the face in the second photo. Maybe it is her cow face? Mooooo!
The kids and I also did some spinning yesterday. Come back tomorrow to see the results wounds.
