Hearts Knit Together #16: A knitting project for children

Hearts Knit Together was born out of my struggle to balance my desire to create with my busy life as a working mother of four. I am challenging myself to do something creative WITH my children each week and to share that adventure with you on Mondays. I invite you to share your creativity with your children so that we might inspire each other with ideas to help "knit our hearts together."

If you want to join me, write a blog post about something creative you did with kids and share your link in the comments. No rules really, only that your link is current and something about creating with children. They don't even have to be your own kids. Please remember to link back to The Gauge Wars so that others who may want to join can find it. Pretty simple. Your post can be from any day of the week. It doesn't have to be Monday. Thank you for participating!

Doesn't this picture make every knitting mom happy? Maeve has been choosing a 10 minute knitting lesson out of her mystery motivation bag fairly regularly. She was able to pick two envelopes a day, one for doing her chores and one for practicing her violin without whining, until we had to turn in her rented violin this week. She actually told me yesterday she wished she had her violin back. I thought finally she was going to admit that she really liked playing it but no, it was because she like picking two envelopes a day. Oh well. One can dream.

She has been working on this little bit of knitting for awhile. She enjoys it for small amounts of time so the 10 minute lesson is just about perfect. We recently figured out what she can make with it so that has increased her motivation to finish it. Maeve's been playing with her doll house a lot and this little afghan will be a welcome addition to the home.
