I recasted on 20 stitches less, per a private message sent on Ravelry from a Mark in SLC who swears he casts on 60 stitches no matter the needle size or yarn weight. I am not sure I totally buy that but for me with skinny ankles and narrow feet 60 stitches with sock weight yarn and size 1 needles seems to be just right. Another brilliant Ravelry knitting suggested putting half the stitches in a circular needle to try the sock on instead of taking it off the needles on to waste yarn so I was able to try it on already. Did I say how cool Ravelry is? Now I am off to eat multicolored ice cream...
